Worship Director/Pastor

We are looking for a worship director to join our staff team at Cedarcreek Covenant

Church (CCC). At CCC “We seek to love like Jesus so through Him lives are

transformed.” Our goal is to foster a dynamic, inclusive worship culture that connects

us to God and one another through the gift of music. We are seeking a joyful,

enthusiastic, creative, humble, and Spirit-led person who eagerly desires to use their

talents and experience for biblically grounded worship leadership. The worship director will lead and oversee our worship ministry. This includes scheduling the worship team, working with the Lead Pastor to plan services, leading worship, and developing lay leaders and musicians. The position also oversees tech and livestream ministries which includes ProPresenter slide preparation, sound training, livestream training and overseeing of volunteers.

Requirements 

This director should have experience in leading and administrating music ministry in a

contemporary, intergenerational church setting. The worship style of CCC is generally

contemporary in style (worship team lead) but regularly incorporates hymns into the

worship life of the church. The worship director needs to own and articulate the values,

vision, and mission of CCC and the Evangelical Covenant Church Denomination. Some

educational background in music is preferred, and some theological education

preferred. Experience leading music ministry, including a team of volunteer musicians

and support, with contemporary Christian worship music and traditional hymns for a

minimum of 2 years. Experience with livestream technology, Pro Presenter, and sound

systems with the ability to troubleshoot

 

Hours Ministry Director - (10-15 Hours A Week approx.) 

Weekly staff meeting

Weekly rehearsals

Preparation for tech, sound, live stream

Church services (including regular Sunday and special services for holidays and as needed)

Other consistent hours will be negotiated

 

Oversight and Accountability 

The Director of Worship Ministry will be directly supervised by the Lead Pastor. The CCC Leadership Team will also provide oversight and care as needed.

10. Prepare worship songs, keys, dynamics, talents of team, weeks in advance

11. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with pastors, staff, and other

musicians.

12. A heart for worship by clearly understanding the role of worship in the church,

and is committed to fostering spiritual growth through music ministry.

13. Ability to recruit, develop, and retain volunteers

14. Network with worship leaders at other churches

 

Responsibilities 

1. Recruit, train, coach and support worship team members which includes audio and

visual team.

2. Oversee administrative tasks of the worship ministry of the church - scheduling of

worship team members, communicating with worship team members regarding

songs for Sunday, reviewing and transposing chord charts.

3. Lead worship team rehearsals on Thursday nights and Sunday mornings before the

service.

4. Lead Sunday morning worship regularly. Be the default worship leader if other

leaders are unavailable.

5. Incorporate various musical styles into worship.

6. Equip and support lay worship leaders to lead worship.

7. Work with Lead Pastor to track and oversee the music library of the church and

or all verbs.develop a process for discerning and implementing songs into worship services.

8. Plan, organize and lead the music and worship components of a weekly Sunday

morning service in consultation with the Lead Pastor. Preparation should incorporate

prayer, conceptual forethought, theological accuracy, and musical appropriateness.

9. Communicate regularly with the church leadership team and congregation

10. Supervise Audio/visual director.

11.Oversee and schedule sound and video team weekly.

12.Manage the budget for the music ministry department, including ordering

supplies and equipment, including maintaining equipment.

13.Have a working knowledge of ProPresenter and Planning Center. Have the ability

to use technology to create worship music, oversee the design of worship slides

and other worship elements.

14.Have knowledge of livestream equipment and software.
